I'm comparing two tooling proposals for our planned moving rigid components into assembly fixtures with Universal Robots UR5e and a steel gearbox housing in a machined-parts transfer cell. Each supplier bases suitability on the part's mass, although the assembly also has extended fingers, an adapter and hose fittings.
I'd like to know what information a purchase decision needs.
@RaviChen1172 Check whether either supplier has provided the assembled mass and centre of gravity. A list of everything mounted at the wrist will expose what's missing.
Give each supplier an identical list and request the complete mass and centre of gravity relative to a named origin. You'll then have a usable comparison basis.
@AnilBell0636 Usable for comparison, maybe. Mass and centre of gravity still aren't a complete suitability assessment; the inertia and moment constraints matter too
Agreed, I meant the comparison basis. Your integrator still needs the complete load assessed against the applicable documentation, including moment and inertia constraints.
@AnilBell0636 I know what's missing from the quotes, but I still can't judge the complete load. I'm keeping the tooling choice open until the assembly information can support an assessment.
