One quote gives me a lovely compact gripper and the other gives me much longer fingers for our aluminium housing, but both justify the UR5e choice with the housing weight alone, and neither says who supports the adapter when it needs replacing.
I can't choose between these UR5e grippers from the part weight

Ask for a drawing and weight list for everything on the wrist. Include fittings. You need the loaded assembly, not just the housing on the scales.

The longer fingers let us reach past a fixture lip, which is useful, but that supplier has put the adapter under customer supply and I missed it.

That line matters. Who is designing your customer-supplied adapter? They need to work with the gripper supplier, not receive two unrelated drawings after the order.

And don't assume the compact one is the safer purchase just because its fingers are shorter, you still need it to place the housing without hitting that lip.

Yes, both need the actual fixture in their assessment. My parts list question wasn't a vote for the short one.

Amara, the compact proposal hasn't shown clearance past the lip; Grace, our shop was expected to design the adapter, apparently, and nobody here had agreed to own that job.

I'd return both with those two missing answers. A lower quote isn't much comfort when your shop has accidentally become the tooling designer.
