Our FR10 layer puts a carton bearing edge over the finger gap

Packaging marked the bearing strip. It overlaps the proposed finger exit. We're asking the tool designer for alternatives rather than shortening the support arrow to fit.

Does the tool designer have to preserve alternating layers? That could be a design preference somebody has promoted into a requirement. I would ask why it is needed for this particular packed box.

Chen's question is useful, though a straight pattern still needs a packaging assessment. Removing rotation does not automatically establish a suitable stack.

Victor, our dispatch packer. She's brought the partial-order examples. Chen, nobody can name a requirement for alternating; it came from an older carton job.

Then keep the older job's reasons out of this approval. Has either reviewer proposed a sheet, or are the current alternatives direct carton support?

Direct support only. Packaging and tooling are comparing a lower-count straight pattern with a changed-finger alternating option. Both now show our normal partial orders.

Price the changed fingers as a complete tool arrangement, including the access check. A cheaper loose finger set can turn expensive once somebody includes what makes it usable.

The full comparison favours the straight pattern for our order mix. Packaging accepted its support arrangement; tool withdrawal clears in the combined model. The changed-finger option costs more and still has an unresolved partial-layer exit, so we've dropped it.

Can the packer identify a returned partial pallet without guessing which pattern it used?

Not from our current label. Thanks, Victor. We're adding the packed-carton version and pattern identity to the proposed return process before its operator check. Selection narrowed, handover not finished.

Have the relief packer try that return example too. The person who attended every layout meeting may fill in missing information without noticing.
