FR10 puck grip tilting while the pickup edits accumulate

Our fixture-to-tray puck transfer keeps getting another pickup correction as the grip loses squareness, and the tray looks unchanged to me; what should I have compared physically before deciding whether the arm, tooling or presentation has moved?

Check the intended contacts and jaw seating against what is actually fitted. The tray looking unchanged doesn't settle its location, and neither appearance tells you when the puck first tilts.

Does the puck start square and move as the fingers close, Naomi? Or is it already tilted before contact? I'd record that distinction against the current tooling and point revision before another adjustment obscures it.

It sits square before contact in the observed pickup, then tilts as the fingers close; the current assembly and point changes are recorded, but I haven't compared every tray or puck yet

Use the same identified puck for the first comparisons. Then add other pucks. It will be easier to see whether a change follows the part, the tray or the grip instead of changing all three together.

Preserve the fitted pieces and their markings before replacement. Service records may say changed without identifying which side, which makes the next shift guess what matched what.

Have maintenance own the physical inspection with the toolmaker available for the intended assembly. Controls should retain the compensation history. A new pair of inserts does not automatically make the latest compensated program appropriate

Our maintenance lead, Luis Chan; the toolmaker found different insert thicknesses on the two jaws, with one replacement from an older set, so the closing contacts weren't a matched pair

Review the taught compensations with the restored pair. Don't simply run the latest saved offsets.

Priya, agreed. Naomi's first observation is useful here: tilt began during closure, but that doesn't establish that every later edit addressed only this mismatch. The return check needs the defined physical setup and selected program together.

Will you repeat the same-puck comparison after restoration, Naomi, then cover the trays you actually use? I would like to know whether the initial closing tilt disappears before calling the transfer reliable.

Sara, old and current inserts shared a stores bin; they've been separated by reference and the service instruction now identifies the pair. Jane, that repeat comparison is planned, specified replacements haven't been checked in the tool yet

Keep a simple before-and-after record of the contact condition as well. It helps the next maintainer understand why two pieces that fitted the screws were not the right pair for this grip.

Specified pair now fitted and reviewed with the selected program; the supervised same-puck comparison no longer tilts during closure, but the planned multiple-tray check is still outstanding, so we haven't released the transfer

That establishes a useful local improvement. Leave the wider check open, and retain the old pair with its finding until the service record is complete. There is no benefit in making a definite result sound larger than it is.
