We counted forty-six mounting adapters for fifty-four matched kits after opening the sealed accessory box. Invoice says kit and the final agreed contents give one adapter per kit. Seller now says pieces. How should I show the eight-kit shortfall without reopening every other item in the order?

Show the agreed per-kit adapter entry beside expected fifty-four, received forty-six, missing eight. Attach your receiving count and ask them to answer that line specifically. Other correctly supplied items can stay closed; this is not an invitation to invent a new counting unit for the whole box.
