I'm reviewing FR5 vacuum tooling for dispatch lanes, with fourteen cartons planned for the first batch. Supplier demonstrated a smooth sample. Mine vary in seams, print and board surface, so that performance isn't enough to accept the concept. What evidence should I demand without turning this into an endless sample collection?
What surface did the cups actually contact in the demonstration, and was the carton packed like yours? Pick the sample differences that change those contact conditions, rather than collecting every print design as though colour alone defines the test.
Theo's contact question matters, but I would include the packaging person who sees incoming board variation. Two cartons with the same artwork can behave differently. Agree the sample selection and handling conditions with the tooling supplier before asking for another attractive video.
The demonstration missed the seam and used a neatly presented carton. Incoming checks gave us examples with the seam in the proposed contact area and rougher board. I've sent those identified samples, packed as intended, with the required release condition.
Did the supplier keep the proposed contact arrangement for those examples, or move the cups until each individual carton worked? Either can teach something, but only one tests the arrangement you were offered.
And retain the failures in that answer. A different setup for each difficult carton could mean a changeover requirement, not necessarily an unusable concept, but it is something Clara would have to operate and maintain.
The seam example failed their proposed pickup check. Supplier has withdrawn the original arrangement and offered a different contact position for review. No acceptance from me yet, but at least we're now discussing the carton that caused trouble rather than replaying the smooth one.
