I am reviewing reference images for an FR5 faceplate inspection station. One retained plate is labelled acceptable in a bench photograph and scratched in a camera image. Neither judgement names the person who examined the actual surface.
We cannot sensibly define operator escalation from those two labels. Should I have the physical plate assessed first, then repeat its presentation under the proposed camera conditions?
Yes, provided it is definitely the same plate. Ask whoever owns cosmetic acceptance to assess it. I can help with the escalation route, but I would not settle a scratch classification from those images.
It is the same plate; the reverse has an engraved sample identifier. Quality has agreed to examine it. I also found that the camera photograph was cropped before annotation, so it cannot show where the alleged scratch sits on the full face.
Has quality located the mark on the plate? That answer would help decide whether operators need a better reference image or a different way to present doubtful parts.
