Cannot select FR5 fingers around a carton pattern packaging has not accepted

The tool supplier wants the alternating layer fixed before designing fingers, but our carton drawing requires support along edges that some rotated positions put over gaps; I need a review that can change the pattern and tool together, rather than two approvals each assuming the other problem is solved.

Bring both owners together. We tried filling gaps on one pattern and removed the fingers' way out. Support gained, usable handling lost.

Does packaging have the filled carton section on that layer drawing?

And have they identified which rotated positions lack the required support? I'd mark those explicitly. It is easier to compare alternatives when everyone can point to the same bearing edge.

Rosa, the carton section is separate; Anna, packaging marked the two outside positions on a printout, while tooling is still working from the unmarked file.

Can you put that marked section beside the tool's withdrawal view for the meeting?

Keep a simpler layer in the comparison. We kept ours after the extra replenishment and changeover work made a sheet-based alternative too expensive for short runs.

Noah, was it the sheet price or handling them that hurt? Those often get bundled together as packaging cost and then nobody sees the labour.

Give the operator that labour question too, because a sheet that is easy to place once can still be a pain to replenish when the pallet station is busy.

Also the spare-tool stock. If the alternative needs different fingers for this carton family, somebody must store, identify and change them. I don't mind more kit when it earns its keep, but it rarely arrives alone.

Eli, yes. I'd want that changeover demonstrated before calling a second finger set an easy option. For a first comparison, visible assumptions are enough; no need to buy both sets.

Farah, that combined view is being prepared, and I have asked for an aligned candidate too; no sheets or second finger set proposed for our job yet, though those cost questions are useful if they appear.

Useful correction; possible alternatives were starting to sound like things already in your quote.

Elliot, handling and replenishment mainly. The sheet price wasn't the big problem. Different volumes might justify it, but ours didn't.

And don't cost the developer doing a perfect changeover; use someone who'll actually be doing it.

Aisha, will the combined drawing show the final carton being released? The outside positions you mentioned may be the ones where the neighbours leave the tool least room.

Yes, the last position caught us. A clear opening early in the layer can vanish by the time you need it.

Anna, full placement order is now part of the request; the first marked section shows the support gap clearly, but nobody has accepted either pattern and we have not ordered fingers.

That's already a more useful disagreement than two teams waving different drawings. Did the aligned candidate change the carton count much, or is that still being drawn?

Maya, thanks for the changeover point. I'd include finding the correct stored set in that exercise too, not hand it to the operator nicely arranged and stop the clock there.

Who decides what happens to an interrupted partial pallet?
