Two inspectors, one doubtful cover

Done. The two inspectors used different viewing angles. One was looking almost along the cover, which makes every bit of it look dramatic.

Have them use the same agreed inspection conditions on that actual cover, not argue from the pictures.

It can help establish whether a mark exists, but the acceptance method still decides whether that mark makes the cover a reject.

Who has the final say when they still disagree?

I would want that person at the viewing session, otherwise the inspectors could just produce another pair of signatures.

Our quality lead joined them. Under the agreed lighting they both saw a faint rub in one place. The bright line in the trial image was elsewhere. We've kept two separate notes against the sample.

Is the rub acceptable under your finish requirement?

Borderline. Quality is asking the product owner. Not putting it into the good set yet, even though the big bright line was a reflection.

Could be a useful difficult example later, once that decision is made.

Later, yes; I would not tune around it while its status is still being debated.

Jasper, did the product owner answer? Our own reference cupboard is filling up with undecided bits.

Product owner accepted the rub under our existing cosmetic method. We have the reason with the sample. I also found that the trial folder contained a sharper crop of this cover labelled deep scratch. Same cover. No wonder this dragged on.

Find the other copies before the next trial, including any training or evaluation folders; changing one label will not change the rest.

Does difficult-example mean accepted but hard to image, or still uncertain? Those sound like different groups to me.
