Our FR5 arrived with a different fixture-alignment interface

We bought against the seller's confirmed fixture drawing. The delivered FR5 has another suffix and a visibly different alignment adapter. Tooling is unfitted after 26 days of waiting for a comparison. I am keeping an attachment index so we stop answering different drawings, but I still cannot tell what the difference means for our plate-transfer job.

Which drawing does the delivered adapter's own label identify? I'd start there rather than treating the main arm suffix as the explanation for every visible difference

Its label names a different adapter reference from our final list. The seller has sent the general arm drawing twice. Neither copy identifies the supplied adapter's locating feature.

Our toolmaker needed the register dimensions, not another outside photograph. Can yours mark those attachment features?

Keep the confirmed adapter as one column and the delivered reference as another. Have each drawing identified and compare the features your tooling relies on. A different reference alone does not tell you whether the interface is compatible.

And get a named technical reply to that comparison, Anna, otherwise the next email will probably contain the arm drawing in a more convenient file format

The toolmaker marked the locating depth and diameter. The seller's technical contact finally supplied the adapter drawing; it has a shallower locating recess than the confirmed item. We are arranging an independent dimensional check of what arrived.

Would that prevent the tool sitting on its intended face, or is that still for the toolmaker to assess?

Measured depth agrees with the delivered drawing. Our toolmaker confirms the locating feature would bottom before the mating faces meet. We have not attempted to draw it together with the bolts.

Then leave it unfitted. Has the seller offered the confirmed adapter rather than machining this one?

That measured mismatch is the decision point. Keep the report tied to the delivered reference; there is no need to turn it into a claim that the whole arm is wrong or unusable.

Replacement of the adapter agreed, Owen. They confirmed the original reference and a dimensional inspection before dispatch. The arm stays here; we have no reason to return it over this identified tooling mismatch.

Keep the wrong adapter in the return record too, so stores doesn't put it on the shelf as a useful spare because it looks almost identical

Correct adapter received and checked by our toolmaker. The locating depth now matches the confirmed drawing and permits the intended mating faces to meet. Wrong adapter returned under its own reference. Installation can continue with the normal checks.

Thanks for reporting the actual depth finding. Much clearer than different suffix, problem solved somehow

Your attachment index can now show which comparison closed the supply issue and which assembly is approved for installation. Keep that with the maintenance copy, not just the purchasing correspondence.
