Crooked grip after the tray latch was repaired

Our FR5 sleeve transfer needed point corrections after a tray-latch repair, and now the sleeve appears tilted when the fingers close. I would like the mechanical references checked before approving further edits. Or more precisely, I need to know whether the tray, tool or both changed during that work.

Start at the repaired latch. Does it hold the tray against the original locators, or has its position become a new locator?

I cannot tell from the repair photo. The latch bracket was replaced. The locating pins were apparently untouched, but that has not been measured.

Ask maintenance to check that contact with the cell isolated. A latch can push a tray sideways even when the pins never moved.

They can inspect it later today. I have given them the old bracket drawing and photographs, so we can compare more than the current point values.

Was anything done to the gripper during the same downtime?

The maintenance record should distinguish those jobs. What does it actually list besides the latch repair?

Cleaning only on the tool, according to the entry. No pad or finger replacement recorded. I've asked the technician who did the job to confirm that.

Keep the tray identity in the inspection notes too. If maintenance compares a different tray tomorrow, the photographs may look similar while the seating differs. We need the checks tied to the tray that produced the lean.

Tray is identified and held aside. Technician confirms the fingers were not removed. Thank you for the latch question; I would otherwise have focused on the pad faces first.

Both can still be worth checking, but the repaired part gives maintenance a sensible place to start. Have they compared how the latch closes against the old drawing?

Our tray once rocked because a replacement clamp bottomed out on its bracket. Looked latched from above. That was a nasty little detail to miss during a quick restart.

What did your inspection find?

The new latch bracket held the tray slightly off one locator. Maintenance has corrected the bracket position and is checking repeat seating. We have not returned the robot to normal runs yet.

Were the point edits saved separately? Whoever restores the setup needs to know which changes followed the latch repair.

Yes. We have the pre-repair backup and the change log. Integrator will review them against the corrected physical setup before the transfer check.

Repeat tray seating passed the maintenance check. Motion verification is booked. The tooling check found no obvious damage, but that is not yet a result for the complete transfer.

Please report back after the transfer check. I'd like to know whether the corrected latch removes the lean without carrying those compensating point edits forward.
