The FR10 price omits preparation for our 139 connector kits

Packing tray loading quote looked affordable. Now fixtures, guarding and training need adding. First batch is 139 packaged kits. I cannot compare two totals when their missing work is different.

Ask both suppliers to start at the same place, because ours called a kit ready when someone had already unpacked and arranged it for free

One starts with kits in shipping boxes. Other starts with kits laid in trays. That explains part of the price gap.

Tray preparation needs an owner and a place to happen. Include bringing empty trays back. Otherwise the proposal will save a handling step at the robot and create two at my end of the bench.

It could still be the sensible cheaper option, Jasper, especially for a small batch, as long as Anil compares the preparation labour openly instead of expecting both suppliers to automate the same way.

Agreed on comparing it. I object to the labour disappearing, not to trays. We use manual preparation on a different job because its changeovers are simpler that way.

How often does this 139-kit batch repeat, Anil? One trial and a weekly production job put very different pressure on a training or fixture allowance.

Initial trial quantity. Future repeat orders expected but not confirmed. I should not spread the cost across work we haven't won.

What does acceptance cost in each offer? I mean who attends, supplies samples and handles the findings. The words factory test have hidden quite a lot of unpaid work for us.

I'd separate one-time teaching from training cover in your own workshop. Or rather, cover for the people attending; I have seen a supplier's training fee budgeted while the line was somehow expected to staff itself.

Also ask who provides and verifies the protective measures for the final layout, because a price for guarding panels alone leaves a lot undecided.

Naomi, acceptance scope differs and I am asking both. Hazel, cover is now a separate allowance. Isaac, verification responsibility is an open line beside the guarding scope.

Put the unknowns beside the totals when you show management, otherwise your nicely labelled assumptions disappear as soon as someone copies the cheapest number into a slide

I've made a comparison with quoted costs and our allowances shown separately. Manual tray preparation remains a real option. Still waiting for the supplier's changeover and acceptance answers.

Could you show what happens when the kit packaging changes too? A cheap fixed presentation arrangement might be fine for this trial, while future orders require a different decision.

Please return with the acceptance answer. Curious whether both will test from their stated starting conditions when you put them side by side.
