Different FR5 fingers delivered after the sample trial confirmed another set

My FR5 arrived with fingers unlike the sample-trial set for placing plastic samples in trays. Seller in China says equivalent. Twenty-five days without application evidence; tooling review paused before installation.

Did you approve a substitution, or did equivalent first appear after the different set arrived?

Keep the trial record with its actual fingers identified. A successful sample transfer can only describe the assembly that performed it. Have you still got the original confirmation and useful views of that set?

No substitution approved. The confirmed trial pictures and order identify the original set; equivalent appeared after delivery.

Ask for a comparison tied to those two sets and the agreed sample range. Also ask who owns any resulting setup and handover changes. An adapter or finger substitution can leave local staff maintaining an arrangement the original instructions no longer describe.

Different does not prove unusable, but the original trial cannot prove this set usable either.

Jamie, fair, but is Omar being asked to assess a new option at his own expense after buying the demonstrated one?

That is why I'd ask for both routes in writing: supply the confirmed set, or offer a properly scoped assessment of the substitute. Omar can decline the second route. He doesn't need to prove every possible failure before preferring what he ordered.

I've asked for the confirmed fingers or a separate assessment proposal with costs and responsibility stated. No fitting agreed.

Include release into the tray in any assessment scope. The requirement is not merely that the new fingers can hold a sample. The original application evidence should remain attached so the comparison does not quietly shrink to grip strength.

And retain finish condition. A held plastic sample may still be damaged by different contacts.

Seller has sent dimensions and says these fingers fit the gripper body. Still no sample handling comparison.

Are those dimensions offered as the whole answer, or have they actually accepted the handling question?

Body fit is worth recording, just not as application equivalence. You could accept that one fact and still refuse the substitute for this purchase. Don't feel obliged to throw useful dimensions away because they answer less than the seller claims.

Rebecca, agreed. I would also avoid calling body fit confirmed until Omar's technical reviewer checks the information. At present he has a dimensional document and a claim attached to it.

Yes, I moved too fast there. Treat it as supplied interface information for review, not an already verified fit. Omar hasn't reported that check.

Their reply treats mounting dimensions as sufficient. I've declined the substitution and asked them to supply the originally confirmed set.

Keep the declined option separate from the unresolved delivery remedy. The tooling is still not ready.

Has the seller agreed to supply it, or are you waiting for an answer to that choice?

Waiting. My request is for the original set, not a request to install and see what happens.

Then the workshop handover should say original tooling outstanding and substitute not accepted. Keep the dimensional sheet in the correspondence, but not among the approved fitting instructions where somebody might use it to restart the job.
