Our separate monitoring laptop sometimes stops refreshing after detailed logging is enabled. Cell controls are unaffected. I want the window to show observation age, but that will not tell us whether synchronous writes or communication delay caused the pause. Which timings should the developer separate?
Can they time receiving, decoding, file operations and screen updates separately for the same sampling task? A total loop duration cannot identify which stage waited. I'd also compare a controlled run with detailed logging disabled, without treating that comparison alone as a permanent repair.
Our current timing is only the whole polling routine, including the file write and display preparation. It cannot separate those stages. The developer is splitting the measurements, while the age display is being handled as an interpretation improvement rather than evidence of the cause.
