Why does our inspection sheet stop before unclamping?

I'm helping review old bracket records before we plan a UR5e welding cell. The inspection sheet has a tick for the hole alignment while the gusseted bracket is clamped. Loose retained samples don't all line up with the checking plate. Someone has pencilled 'pull in before finish' on the fixture drawing. Nobody can tell me what that was correcting. What should I compare first using the records and samples we already have?

Check what the drawing asks you to measure after release. The fixture tick might only be a process check, although the old sheet ought to say that.

The drawing locates the holes from the base face in the finished part. Our checking plate uses the two upright holes to hold it. I think we're comparing different things already.

Yes, get quality to confirm a common measurement setup before comparing the numbers. I'm not saying that explains the loose parts, just that the current comparison is muddy.

And don't put that pencilled correction into the new fixture spec until someone can say what it did and why

Did you find an inspection instruction for the plate? Might explain whether it was intended for fit-up or final checking.

Found it in a folder for the previous bracket revision. Different locating arrangement. Quality has agreed to measure the retained parts from the current drawing; the pencil note is excluded from the proposed fixture requirements for now. Thanks for pointing me at the plate itself.

That clears up the plate history. I'd still be interested in the released-part results when you have them; the original distortion question is sitting there.
