Cannot rank the FR5 trial against a different tray

The demonstrator filled it before filming. No time given. Our workshop tray arrives already filled from the preceding operation.

Does the proposed process replace that workshop tray upstream, or add a transfer into the new one? Those are different jobs to price.

I wouldn't dismiss the better tray. It might be the useful thing in the demonstration. I'd try loading one by hand with your actual sleeves before asking for another robot video.

Jack, the supplier assumed we would transfer into their tray. That operation is missing from their time. Lin, we can borrow a sample tray to examine that step.

Borrow it with the loading instructions. Not everybody gets the demonstrator standing beside them.

And use whoever would actually fill it, Caleb. Your best setter hovering over it won't represent a busy shift.

Lin, would you compare the tray on its own before trying to standardise both robot trials? I'm unsure how much a manual fill can settle.

I'd use it to find obvious extra work, not declare a winner. The sleeves may be easy to orient, or they may need turning individually. Either answer changes what the later trial has to include.

And don't lose sight of who empties the old tray afterwards.

The sample tray reached us. Our operator says each sleeve needs turning to expose its locating feature, whereas the present process accepts either orientation. We have not timed the full task yet.

That is a new operation, not just a nicer tray.

Can the preceding operation supply that orientation without adding work elsewhere? Worth asking before you price a permanent manual transfer.

The upstream lead is checking. I've kept the new-tray option, but removed the claimed cycle advantage from my comparison until preparation and empty-tray handling are included.

That's a fair shortlist position. Better tray, unresolved process cost. I'd still be interested in whether the upstream change turns out easier than the extra transfer.
