Our FR10 bracket allowance combines straightening and planned machining

I pulled the original travellers for the support brackets in our FR10 estimate. The restrained alignment tick is followed by a released dimensional failure. Later sheets show a pass. The estimate calls everything between those points 'correction'. There is a fitting-bench visit in there, but also a planned machining operation that already appears elsewhere in the cost. I want the real correction explained, not deleted because one line is duplicated. The bracket identities and drawing revision match. The operation descriptions are the untidy bit.

Keep the original route beside the estimate. Which feature failed at the first released check? That should help distinguish correction of the welded shape from the machining already planned.

Mounting-face angle. Planned machining is the clearance holes. Final sheet records both, but the summary treats the whole interval as angle correction.

So the machining duplicate can be removed once the estimator confirms where it is already charged. The angle failure still needs its own route. I wouldn't discount that work just because the summary is poor.

Does the fitting-bench entry actually say straightening?

And can the person who did that work link their explanation to this bracket group, rather than describe what generally happens at that bench?

Entry says angle corrected. Supervisor traced it to the fitter, who has a note for these same bracket references. He straightened them before the final angle check. No individual times.

That explains the operation. Do the two angle checks use the same support method?

Harish, yes. A final pass on another setup would leave an extra measurement question even with the straightening confirmed.

Ours did exactly that. Different supports, same reassuring word 'pass'.

Quality checked the methods. Same support and angle requirement for these two results. The first sheet is before straightening and the final angle result after it; the hole check is a separate entry.

Give the estimator those separate operations now, even if the remaining labour allowance still needs an observation.

Ada, did yours have any matching recheck hidden elsewhere? I nearly missed one because it was filed with the outgoing inspection rather than the correction sheet.

Estimator removed the duplicated hole machining. Straightening and reinspection remain separate allowances. We are observing a current manual group to replace the guesswork on time.

Include the inspection queue in elapsed time, but do not book every waiting minute as the fitter's hands-on labour. That distinction can affect staffing as much as the correction itself.

Harish, no matching old recheck yet. We've stopped using that comparison for a correction allowance.

Anna Archer, is the current group the same bracket revision and route as your historical example?

Same bracket revision, changed inspection location. We kept that change explicit. Observation finished: fitter work, movement and inspection waiting are separate now, and the changed walking route is priced for the proposed location.

Useful. What happened to the incoming fit-up work? I cannot tell whether it was included before the restrained alignment tick or omitted from the old costing too.

It was charged under preparation, and the estimator has kept it there. We have corrected this cost breakdown without assuming a new FR10 fixture eliminates straightening. The fixture designer still needs to address why this bracket group required it.
