Why are we counting cartons before checking what supports them?

Packaging has that section now. They also want a packed carton, because the insert drawing doesn't show how the contents bear on it. We have samples available.

Put the tool in the section too. It still has to let go.

Use the supplied tool shape, including the hose exit. We had a flipped mock-up that only worked with a hose passing through a bracket. Looked excellent without that bit.

Thank you, our model had fingers only. The toolmaker is adding the body and fittings. It already looks tighter at the corner placements.

We tried straight rows on our pallet sample earlier because they gave the fingers room. Packaging was unhappy with stability, so changing the pattern sent us straight back to another discussion. I'd have both people there when you move the boxes around.

Have you asked about the last carton in the layer?

That's the tight one. Toolmaker cannot show withdrawal with the current finger shape. Packaging has suggested a different pattern but wants to assess the complete stack before recommending it.

Different pallet count. Has planning said whether fewer cartons would still meet the dispatch need? There may be room to simplify this.

Not yet. I've asked for that comparison. Everyone had treated the highest count as the target without showing why we needed it.

I don't know your transport cost, so fewer might be worse overall. Worth having the actual numbers beside the layout.

And the time spent recovering a bad placement belongs in that comparison if the trial finds one.

Planning says one lower-count candidate is acceptable for our dispatch runs. We will trial that with packaging and the complete tool shape before discussing the detailed robot sequence.

That's a useful option. Keep the carton revision on the trial sheet; ours changed the finish without changing the outside size.

Done. The samples and pallet variant are identified. The old maximum-count drawing is still in the folder, marked rejected for this tooling arrangement.

I also asked for sheet and wrapping requirements in the packaging review. We had only discussed the boxes, which left another bit of the final pallet unaccounted for.

Please post how the trial goes. Our straight-row lesson made me wary of declaring victory just because the fingers finally fit.
