How do I compare trim-plate views without blessing the scratch labels?

I'm already questioning image labels in my faceplate review; these FR5 trim-plate examples have moving bright streaks too, and I want physical surface decisions kept separate from the imaging comparison. What should we hold consistent in that comparison before anyone tunes a threshold?

Use identified plates with quality's decisions beside them, then compare a controlled change in presentation or lighting rather than changing everything together. Keep a confirmed scratch in the set. Otherwise a cleaner-looking picture can win by hiding the thing you wanted to detect.
