Our loading lightweight inspection pieces tooling changed between the trial and delivery

I ordered Fairino FR5 from an unnamed seller in China with tooling confirmed in a sample trial for loading lightweight inspection pieces. The arm arrived, but the tool connection adapter differs from that setup. The seller calls the replacement kit equivalent without showing it handling our samples. I've waited 8 days for clarification and paused our tooling review before installation.

Do the sample-trial images identify the selected tooling clearly enough to compare it with your delivery photographs? That would give your substitution query a specific basis.

Yes. The trial shows the agreed arrangement, and my unpacking photos show a different the tool connection adapter. The order messages link that selected kit to loading lightweight inspection pieces.

@MeiBarnes0603 Ask the seller to explain the substitution using those images and provide evidence for the delivered kit in your application. Keep it uninstalled pending a suitability assessment.

Do I need to prove the replacement won't work? That's what their replies seem to be pushing me toward.

@MeiBarnes0603 The visible substitution is enough to frame a specific query without asserting that the replacement is unusable. Request the basis for its suitability with the samples originally agreed.

@JonasAllen0285 A demonstration using the supplied kit and agreed samples should establish equivalence for this purpose. Request a recording of it performing the agreed task.

One clip won't settle equivalence. It can show a limited result and still miss marking, release problems, or variation between samples.

@LinBaker0444 You're right, 'settle equivalence' was too broad. Ask for the agreed observations using the supplied kit, then review what that evidence actually covers.

@CallumAdams0099 If it picks the sample up, isn't that the important bit?

@RaviCarter0998 A pickup demonstrates only part of a handling sequence. Depending on the agreed task, placement and release may also need observation, with the request limited to the relevant requirements.

I'll use our original trial notes to define the requested observations. The substitution is frustrating, but that doesn't justify presenting additional requirements as part of the original agreement.

@MeiBarnes0603 In a separate handling application of mine, sample release was as relevant as pickup. I included both observations in that application's trial notes for that reason.

Did you ask for close-ups, or did those make it harder to follow the whole sequence?

@MeiBarnes0603 Ask for enough context to follow the sample, with detail where the contact matters. An extreme close-up can hide what happened just outside the frame.

And identify which tooling is in that recording. Otherwise you're back to a nice demonstration of the original kit.

@LinBaker0444 That's the gap. Their substitution message came after delivery and includes no result with the new tooling. Our original trial can't answer that for it.

I still have only the seller's equivalence assurance for the substituted kit. Our tooling remains uninstalled because its suitability hasn't been established.

An unsupported equivalence assurance still leaves you without the application basis you requested.
