Our FR5 carton-loading estimate includes one training session for me. Three shifts will use it. The arm price looked fine, but I cannot hand everybody my memory and call that support.

Ask what that session covers first. Normal operation only, or changeover and recovery too?

Normal startup and loading one box size. Changeover is extra. Recovery says consult supplier, which could mean almost anything.

Then price the missing topics and the people who need them. A single session may still suit some roles.

I want a shift lead from each shift involved. Not everybody needs to edit programs, but each shift needs someone who can deal with an ordinary interrupted job.

Yes, within the agreed recovery instructions. Ask who writes those and who checks that trainees can use them.

Could your own trainer cover the later operators once the leads are trained? Paying the supplier for every new starter could get expensive, though somebody has to maintain the material.

That is what our production manager wants. We have a trainer, but she has not seen the proposal yet. I'll get her view before promising that saving.

Give her the changeover list. Different box sizes may need more than a new screen selection.

She wants the supplier to train the leads and provide the recovery material, then she will handle repeat operator training. We have asked for that split in the revised price.

That sounds workable. Does her time appear in your total now, or has it become free because she's already on the payroll?
