Why am I still making guides for this UR5e bag trial?

We timed transfers, not the order. I also prepared all the bags first. The packer still does that preparation when I'm not hovering nearby.

Count your hovering too. Someone has to replace it.

Fair enough. I'll include guide setup and interruptions. The trial is borrowing space from the normal packing bench, so clearing it away belongs in the comparison as well.

Ask the packer which bits actually feel better. Less reaching might be worth something, but not if you've traded it for fiddling with every bag mouth.

She likes the raised tray. Not the guides.

Try to preserve that useful tray position in the manual comparison. Otherwise the robot trial gets credit for a bench improvement which may not need a robot. Include someone else doing the setup from the instructions, because your own familiarity is part of what you are trying to measure.

Any limit agreed for the next round of changes?

Not previously. My supervisor and I have agreed one comparison with the existing guides, no extra tooling. If it still needs my help between bag types, we stop this route.

That is a reasonable stopping point, provided you also judge the complete workload and the packer's experience rather than only whether another person can coax it through.

Write down what the other person needed help with. Not to create an endless new improvement list, but so the stop decision has specific reasons and does not become the robot was disappointing.

Comparison finished. The guide change still needed me, and packing the whole order took more attention than the manual route with the raised tray. Supervisor and packer agree we should stop developing this version.

We are keeping it after the bench review. Thanks, Anna and Jasper, for separating that from the robot. I've removed the trial from our production plan and labelled the stored tooling with its drawings.

Sounds settled. No fourth guide required.

The reasons are clear enough for someone to revisit later if the bag range changes, without pretending the present arrangement earned a place in production.
