Different blank projections, no blank dimensions on our sheet

Our hand-loaded aluminium round blanks show different exposed lengths at the chuck stop. We are planning FR5 loading, not authorised to run it automatically. The sheet records projection and nothing else. I need a manual comparison that can tell blank variation from inconsistent seating before this becomes a robot adjustment problem.

Identify each blank and measure its relevant dimensions alongside its seated projection, using agreed references.

Can one identified blank be loaded repeatedly under the approved manual procedure? Comparing different blanks once each confounds part variation with repeatability of seating.

And repeat the measurement without reloading, or measurement variation gets called seating variation.

Yes, we can organise that with the machine owner under the manual procedure. I had only planned to measure a row of different blanks. That would still leave us guessing which part of the spread came from loading.

Record end condition and visible contamination too. Do not silently clean away an unusual observation.

Anika, record as found first, certainly. But I would not imply the operator must repeat a load in an unsuitable condition just to preserve the study. The approved procedure determines what can be tried.

Agreed. Record any permitted cleaning before the next comparison; do not repeat an unsuitable load.

Also note whether projection is measured clamped or unclamped. Same reference each time.

The draft now separates repeated measurement, repeated loading of one identified blank and comparison across blanks. It records the measurement state and any preparation changes. No results yet, and automatic loading remains unauthorised.

That can distinguish several contributions without assuming any one is the cause. When you have results, retain the individual readings; one spread number will not show which blank or loading attempt behaved differently.
