I've got two tooling quotes for Universal Robots UR5e doing loading metal housings into inspection nests with a cast metal housing in a robot tooling design review. Both argue suitability from part mass alone. Our proposed fingers extend beyond the wrist, with an adapter and hose fittings too.
What should I request before buying?
Give each supplier an identical list and request the complete mass and center of gravity relative to a named origin. You'll then have a usable comparison basis.
@NathanBaker0460 I'd qualify 'usable': those values help compare configurations, but they don't complete the assessment against the robot's applicable inertia and moment constraints.
Agreed, I meant the comparison basis. Your integrator still needs the complete load assessed against the applicable documentation, including moment and inertia constraints.
