Can two end stops prevent our UR5e bracket from reaching its pads?

Designer says extra support. Drawing locates from one end. I do not understand the other contact.

Support need not mean another locating end face. Ask the designer to show which motions each contact constrains and where allowed bracket-length variation goes.

Can you show whether the bracket actually touches both ends before it reaches the pad, Gabriel? Otherwise we're arguing with a sketch again.

Yes, Toby. Inspection found two length groups, both within the current drawing limits.

That gives the designer a useful pair to compare. Keep the longest permitted case in the review, not just enough clearance for your favourite sample.

Still need the contact check though.

Toolmaker checked it. Longer bracket touches both end faces before reaching the bottom pad.

Then have the non-locating support redesigned to accommodate that variation while retaining the intended datum contact. More clamp force could just distort the bracket into this conflicting arrangement.

Will the support change leave the intended end stop accessible for cleaning?

Proposed clearance is open from the loading side. Intended stop stays visible. Designer has both sample groups.

Good. Our last hidden relief filled up with chips and became a contact again. Very clever way to recreate the original fault.

Beth, was that a blind pocket in the support or just awkward access to the main stop?

Blind pocket. Main stop was easy to see, so everyone thought they'd cleaned the nest.

Gabriel's open clearance sounds preferable for inspection, though the actual modified nest still needs checking with the bracket variation.

Modified nest checked with both groups. Longer samples now reach the pads without wedging between ends.

Without tightening the clamp harder?

Yes. Same specified clamping arrangement. No stronger clamp purchased. Bench-fit correction accepted by tooling and inspection.
