I am reviewing an aluminium angle-bracket nest for an FR10 inspection station. Three samples settle differently across four lower supports. The toolmaker suggests a stronger clamp. What observation would distinguish poor contact from conflicting location before we accept that change?
The toolmaker checked the static samples and found alternate corner contact. There is also a side contact against a rough edge. We have asked them to relate each contact to the drawing datums.
That contact map is useful. Ask the fixture designer to review location and clamp direction against the datums and part variation. More force would not explain why those samples settle differently.
