Can the complete FR10 gripper withdraw past our open machine door?

Our unloading sketch reaches the cylindrical aluminium blank but omits the gripper body and open door. I need the approach and withdrawal checked before selecting the FR10. Planned batch is 51.

What door position did you measure? I would start with the real parked door and the complete tool envelope, since a target point inside the machine tells you very little about getting the blank back out

No measured position on the sketch. We have the door opening width only. I'll ask for the parked door and protruding handle to be included.

Our tool cleared a drawing and met a door handle in the model review. The handle was presumably expected to resign. Measure the bits that actually stick out.

Toolmaker can supply the gripper assembly model. It includes the adapter but not the hose loop, so that needs adding too.

On a fixture review I joined, the empty gripper withdrew neatly but the held component needed another turn. Include your loaded tool in that model, with the grip orientation you actually expect.

Who changes the fixture when the robot is parked? Same opening, probably. I would want that person's access drawn as well, before a base location becomes expensive to move.

Our setter changes it through the front. Base location is provisional. He's joining the layout review because the door omission affects him as well.

Are you considering a different grip orientation, or only moving the robot? Either may alter the route, but they have different consequences for tooling and setup

Both are possible at this stage. No alternative drawn yet. I'd prefer to retain the machine fixture if we can.

If you can turn the grip, price that before making holes for a different base. Ours needed a tool review anyway; moving furniture wasn't automatically the cheap option.

Will, if a new base position is proposed, show the setter where his trolley goes. Access on foot and space to change a fixture are not quite the same thing.

The updated model now shows the door, complete tool and blank. Original approach conflicts with the handle. Designer is comparing another grip orientation and a side base position.

Does the side position leave room for checking the first part? Our inspection trolley had never featured in the robot drawing, despite being there for every setup.

It takes some of that trolley space. Setter has marked his required working area; the designer is including it in the comparison.

How does the other grip orientation perform at the original base position?

It clears the handle in the static view. Full approach and withdrawal remain unchecked. Toolmaker also needs to confirm whether that grip suits the blank.

I'd keep both options alive until the toolmaker answers. A clear picture can make people surprisingly attached to a grip nobody has agreed to build.

Has anyone compared maintenance access at those two positions? The winning production route still has to let somebody reach the machine's service points.

Maintenance has been invited, no review result yet. Thanks Toby Bennett for the loaded-tool point; the revised model caught a blank clearance the empty tool view hid.

Glad it surfaced while the base is still on paper. Keep the first-part trolley in the version you send to the toolmaker too, so everyone reviews the same arrangement.
