Compare a troublesome tray with one that behaves, including its locating surfaces. The swaps are a useful lead, not a confirmed cause.
the puck sits crooked after a tray swap

Two tray generations in circulation. Outside dimensions match. Pocket inserts are different, which nobody mentioned when handing me the offset collection.
15 pointsEstablish which tray revision the job was commissioned against. Mixing generations can hide inside an otherwise correct setup.
18 pointsOriginal acceptance photos show the older inserts. Both generations are labelled with the same recipe name. That was a decision, apparently, but there's no review attached.
11 pointsHave the tooling owner compare the part seating in both. Recipe labels don't establish mechanical equivalence.
23 pointsAre the pucks already tilted in the newer pockets before the gripper touches them?
10 pointsA pre-contact observation would help. If they're square until contact, the investigation needs to include tool alignment and clearances.
5 pointsCan you identify which taught offsets were added for which tray revision?
8 pointsNo. Notes say things like better now. I've frozen that program copy and asked for a proper baseline comparison instead of trying to reverse the changes from memory.
0 pointsThen preserve the notes as history, but don't turn them into adjustment instructions for the next operator.
19 pointsWhat did the pre-contact check show? I'm trying to understand whether the new inserts actually change how the puck sits.
17 pointsAlso inspect a new insert's mounting in the tray. A correctly made pocket can still sit incorrectly if its installed support is wrong.
8 pointsToolmaker found the new inserts seat the puck higher. Some finger contact is now on the edge radius. Revised tooling review underway; no robot drift demonstrated.
14 pointsThat gives the review a concrete geometry difference. Keep the two tray types distinguishable until their permitted tooling and recipe combinations are agreed.
