The sleeve leans when one jaw touches it

They found a thin backing piece under one pad. It is absent from the drawing. The previous shift thinks it was fitted to compensate for a worn pad.

Was the worn pad subsequently replaced while the backing piece stayed there?

Exactly that. Maintenance has the replacement record, and the backing piece stayed during the change. We are having the approved stack restored and checked.

That would explain unequal contact. Keep the old pieces so the person reviewing the point changes can see what the offsets were compensating for.

We inherited corrections after a pad change too. Did anyone retain the last working tool setup, or do you only have the latest edited points?

There is a backup from before the pad work. Integrator will compare it with the current points. We are not simply loading it and hoping.

Can I ask who approved that extra backing piece? The next shift needs to know which stack they're maintaining.

We cannot find an approval. Maintenance is marking the correct pad and backing arrangement on the tooling sheet, and I am putting a photograph into the operator handover.

Give stores the pad reference too, otherwise the same thickness problem can return with the next replacement.

Before buying another tray, compare the sleeve seating after that tooling work; you've found something concrete to check first, and the tray may have been innocent throughout.
