Forums Fairino robots Can the FR5 withdraw with the jaws open? Can the FR5 withdraw with the jaws open? LeahBarnes0582 · 4 Jan 2025, 11:01 UTC
ClosedI am checking an FR5 proposal for loading polymer blocks into our enclosed mill, and the blank clears the opening while the gripper seems to disappear from every drawing. The uncertain part is withdrawal after release, when the jaws will be open and the door handle is beside the wrist path.
18 replies Lost access on our jig after release. Have they drawn the open jaws at all?
10pointsOnly the closed outline is shown; I had assumed the wider outline on another sheet was the open position, but it belongs to a different tool.
22pointsThen you can't choose the arm from that sheet.
15pointsAgreed; I have requested both jaw positions and the actual door hardware, which was useful to have identified before our review.
11pointsInclude the block while it's still held. That's another outline.
10pointsAnd the fingers below it. We forgot those once, expensive little drawing omission.
6pointsWho supplies the fingers here?
7pointsA foam outline of the proposed tool caught our handle clash before the proper CAD arrived; cheap enough to try with the machine isolated.
10pointsOur toolmaker supplies the fingers, and their latest drawing adds a heel behind each jaw that the integration drawing does not contain.
20pointsSend that drawing to whoever owns the layout. Otherwise you're all checking different grippers and agreeing very efficiently.
19pointsHas anyone checked where the wrist goes after the block is seated?
7pointsWe placed a full-size mock-up through the opening with the machine isolated; the open jaw heel overlaps the handle during a straight withdrawal.
11pointsUseful failure. Does the proposed tool allow another withdrawal direction?
9pointsDon't infer the arm can make that alternative turn from a hand-held mock-up; ours needed a wrist orientation the joint layout couldn't provide.
21pointsThe toolmaker is investigating shorter heels, while the integrator checks the complete movement; we have not selected a different arm.
9pointsShorter heels could change the grip, so let the toolmaker own that bit too.
24pointsYes, they are reviewing gripping as part of that revision; the current proposal remains on hold.
22pointsPlease post the revised clearance when it comes. Interested whether the handle survives the argument.
