I cannot choose our FR10 panel tool from the loose-sheet test

The loose access panel in our supplier's vacuum test was lying on wooden strips. Our panels arrive together in a stack and the nest supports them near the edges. I can see why the test was easy to arrange, but it leaves out both ends of my job. I want a small comparison using our panels before we order tooling. What would you include first? I do not want to buy a detector and only then discover the panel sags into the nest.

Can they show one leaving your actual stack?

They have offered another loose-panel test. We have a stack available here, so I have asked whether they can use that instead.

Include the receiving nest; wooden strips won't tell you where the panel catches.

And who sorts it out when two come up? On a small job the awkward bit can be access for the person clearing the stack, not the detector price.

Nina, yes, but first find whether their tool can separate them at all.

Those can be checked in the same visit. I would bring ordinary stacked panels, the intended nest and examples of the surface condition you accept. Ask the tooling person to show the pickup and the released panel. A seal reading by itself leaves a lot between those two moments.

Fair enough. I was picturing another video call.

Rosa, they can visit with their test equipment. Nina, I would be the person clearing it. Our setter is also coming because she sees the stacks before I do.

Let the setter choose the stack samples, then.

The visit found two problems. A second panel followed the top one on one pickup. On a separate single-panel pickup, the unsupported corner caught the nest lip. Both are visible in the recording. The setter said that corner bend is still within what our inspection accepts.

Was the corner bent before pickup, Fiona? I mean the same corner on the same panel, not another example from the stack. That would help the tooling person distinguish the incoming shape from what happened during handling.

It was bent beforehand. We photographed it on the bench and kept that panel. Thank you for making me check the identity; I nearly answered from the next one.

Keep that one for the next trial. People have a remarkable ability to bring the nice flat sample back.

Any proposal for telling a double from a single?

And Fiona, can you reach the held pair without dismantling half the station?

Henry's question matters even if the check works perfectly. The proposed hold position needs a defined recovery with room for the person and the sheets. I would ask the integrator to show that alongside whatever double-panel check they propose.

Gabriel, they propose a thickness check and will demonstrate known single, double and uncertain readings. Henry, the first hold position blocks access. The integrator has moved it in the layout, but that version has not been tried.

That's the drawing I'd want the setter to see, before somebody calls the extra reach a minor inconvenience.

Did they change the support for that bent corner too?
