Cannot choose pads while we disagree about the sleeve marks

Our proposed UR5e sleeve gripper leaves faint arcs on the anodised outside surface, and the supplier says the softer pad sample solves it, but I can still see something under our inspection lamp; how would you agree a finish test that also covers the sleeve staying put and coming out of the fingers cleanly?

Start with the product's cosmetic acceptance method, including viewing conditions, and identify unhandled comparison samples; otherwise the two pad trials may be judged differently before holding and release are even considered.

Our current method uses the inspection lamp, but the supplier judged their sample beside a window, so I have sent the viewing instructions and asked them to return both handled and untouched sleeves.

Thank you for clarifying the method; can they identify each sample's pad material and handling history so your comparison remains meaningful when the sleeves return?

I'd also ask whether those arcs wipe off under your approved cleaning method; no point arguing about a permanent scratch if you're looking at transferred pad material.

Careful with that. If every sleeve needs extra cleaning, the soft pads have created a production task. Even removable marks can be a nuisance.

The returned soft-pad sample passes after our permitted cleaning, but needs an extra pass that the untouched sleeve does not, so David's concern is real; we're pricing that work while the supplier runs the agreed holding and release trials.

Please get the replacement pad details as well, because stores will eventually be asked for the same material and shape, and a note saying soft pad leaves rather a lot to imagination.

I wasn't calling extra cleaning free, David, only trying to find out what the arc was; Owen still needs the handling trial before either of us crowns a winner.
