fr5 packing quote with nobody priced to prepare the inserts

Our FR5 carton-insert quote covers the arm and tool. Fixture preparation, guarding work and training now have separate lines, but the person feeding boxed modules to it still seems to work for nothing.

Put preparation and attendance beside the equipment lines. Ask each supplier what arrives at its boundary and who gets it into that state. Otherwise two complete-looking offers may assume very different jobs for your packer.

One assumes pre-opened cartons with inserts already seated. The other includes presenting the insert but excludes replenishment. Neither says who checks the boxed module orientation.

Walk one ordinary packing order with the packer before asking for another machine price. You've found three preparation tasks already. An observation could tell you which ones are actually worth changing.

And identify changeover and fault cover. The supplier's setup person isn't necessarily the person you can call during an evening order, even if training is listed on the quote.

What improvement are you buying: less handling effort, more output, or fewer packing mistakes? The answer affects whether the extra preparation work is an acceptable trade.

Harish's question needs answering before those lines get ranked by price. A lower equipment total could still be the worse proposal for the packer's actual problem.

Less repeated reaching into cartons. Packer doesn't expect fewer people. I've stopped describing it as a labour-saving purchase.

That is a better target to observe. Compare the reaching with the new preparation and replenishment positions too. Moving an awkward task upstream may leave the same person with a different awkward task.

Did both suppliers revise their scope around that target? Guarding design, installation checks and operator training still need named owners even if staffing stays the same.

I would keep the manual bench improvement in the comparison. A changed presentation height or layout may be worth assessing alongside the robot proposal, not only after it becomes expensive.

Maya, has the observed packing order changed which task you want the pilot to tackle? I'd be interested in that before another round of filling in quote blanks.
