Our mill-bay drawing gives the FR5 the setter's standing space

We inspected a bay where the routine loading gap looked generous, but the fixture needed a trolley straight in from the front. The people selling the layout had only watched someone load one part. Get the setter's actual changeover into this comparison.

Sofia, that is also where I'd involve whoever covers the setter. Our laboratory layouts used to rely on one person knowing which loose items could be moved, until the covering person quite reasonably left them where the drawing put them.

Setter marked it with the fixture trolley included. The proposed stand overlaps that space.

Ask the supplier to price a workable alternative, including the complete tool and open door, before retaining this stand position as the cheap option

I'd keep manual tending in the comparison too. Not as a punishment for a bad drawing, just because a supervised small-batch job may lose its advantage once every fixture change needs a separate moving-and-checking task.

Moving the stand might be a valid design option, Karen, but the proposal has not introduced that yet. Or rather, we don't know whether this stand is meant to move at all

Yes, conditional. I meant if that is their proposed cure. I wouldn't add a movable stand to Hazel's requirements myself.

They proposed a movable base. Our lab lead won't accept a new relocation task for this job.

Hazel, has the supplier seen the actual open door, not just the opening in the machine brochure? A further fixed position still needs the tool's whole approach and withdrawal checked.

And the receiver location? Removing a blank from the fixture is only part of the route. I can't tell where you intend to put it down

Receiver is on the fixed bench. Side position blocks its manual loading aisle. Lab lead rejected that too.

Did you decide to retain manual tending, or is another bay now part of the proposal?

Manual tending stays. We closed this purchase proposal; another bay is not available. Thanks, Karen. Keeping the existing job in the comparison made the decision much easier to explain.
