Compare the actual adapter reference, fixing pack, delivery and any assessment needed for a substitute. A cheaper credit is not a replacement quote, but your local offer may also cover a different scope.
A spare-adapter credit smaller than the replacement cost

Does maintenance actually want that local one, Liam, or has purchasing found something with the right-looking bolt holes? We have enough mysterious adapters in drawers already.
6 pointsMaintenance identified the same ordered adapter assembly. Local quote includes its fixing pack and delivery. Seller credit covers only the adapter line, with no answer about the rest of the spare kit.
11 pointsThen keep the rest of the kit open in the comparison too.
8 pointsWe had a credit offered for a missing part that was bundled with two smaller bits. Accounts thought accepting it closed the whole bundle; maintenance thought we were still owed the little bits. I'd ask the seller to state exactly which missing items their proposal settles, before anybody presses the tidy-up button.
10 pointsAnd who approves the extra spend if you choose local supply? That is a purchasing decision, not something maintenance should quietly absorb to keep the station covered.
20 pointsOur backup part was correctly bought and then booked into general stores under a vague description. Still unavailable when needed. Whichever route you choose, give the spare a location and identity people can find.
0 pointsSara's point matters. Ask for a written revised proposal covering the acknowledged missing contents, not a credit figure detached from the order lines.
15 pointsSeller has clarified the credit covers only the extra adapter and fixing pack. Another small spare item remains due separately. Purchasing is considering the difference against confirmed local availability.
15 pointsHow confirmed is local availability? Stock on a website or somebody looking at the actual part?
17 pointsSupplier checked the actual assembly and reserved it against our enquiry, with no order placed yet. Ben's drawer problem is why maintenance gave them the full reference.
17 pointsThat sounds clearer. Do they give you enough time to make the decision without turning the reservation into an accidental order?
16 pointsSara, I'd just confirm the reservation terms with them. We don't know what either party has agreed from the word reserved.
5 pointsReservation is explicitly no commitment; purchasing has that in the quote. They approved local purchase plus the specified credit, with the other missing spare item kept open. Orders now placed on that basis.
4 pointsThanks for separating the remaining item. Will stores use the maintenance reference when the adapter arrives?
17 pointsYes. Incoming note has the full reference and assigned spare location. Adapter is dispatched but not received here; credit arrangement agreed, other spare item still unsupplied. I will not call the kit complete yet.
