Our FR10 supplier has lifted a smooth empty box and called the vacuum concept demonstrated, while our actual filled cartons have a taped seam across the proposed pickup face; what evidence should I ask for before accepting that claim?
Send identified examples of the actual packed cartons and the range of surfaces they will receive. Ask for the proposed tool to be assessed across pickup, transfer and release. The empty smooth box leaves both the surface and the load unrepresented.
Were the cartons in their demonstration prepared by the supplier? That matters if their proposal assumes someone will present yours with a clear patch in a particular position.
Also ask what happens when pickup is not established or the carton is unsuitable. A successful lift clip does not explain what the operator will be asked to do with the awkward carton.
Then leave that variation in the sample set. We had a trial start avoiding a taped seam as though the seam had volunteered to move. Identifying the filled samples helps stop the next video becoming a different box.
Jack, agreed. There may be an intentional presentation step in a workable proposal, but its labour and limits need to be included rather than smuggled into sample preparation.
Alistair, is the receiving station shown in the proposal? I would want the release and carton support there considered before calling the transfer demonstrated.
Only a destination outline, Jane; I have asked for the receiving support and release arrangement with the revised trial scope, and no longer describe this as a demonstrated transfer.
Both remain requested, Harish; the supplier wants to assess the samples before saying whether one needs a different approach, so we have no agreed scope limit yet.
Keep the unsuitable-carton route on the list when that answer arrives. A restricted scope can be workable, but the person feeding it needs a clear way to recognise and handle what falls outside it.
