Cannot choose softer pads while our bezel samples are judged differently

Our UR5e gripper samples leave a faint ring on polished bezels. Inspection sees it under the bench light but the supplier's photograph looks clean. I cannot choose pads until we agree which appearance check represents the finished part.

Does the ring stay after the agreed cleaning step, or are you judging it straight out of the fingers?

Straight out of the fingers. We have not agreed a cleaning step for the comparison, and I do not want to erase something inspection needs to assess.

Ask inspection to define that before anyone experiments with cleaners; I cannot tell from a ring description whether it is residue or a change to the surface.

We argued over a mark that the supplier couldn't see because their photo was from the wrong side. Send the actual sample if you can, photographs are surprisingly good at hiding an argument

Pavel, agreed, though Jordan needs the viewing conditions agreed too or they'll post it back saying still looks fine

Both points help. We retained the marked samples and can send one with an untouched comparison bezel. Inspection will describe the viewing and cleaning conditions first.

Will any cleaning needed after gripping become part of the handling cost, rather than disappearing into the sample preparation?

Ravi, exactly. We once made a handling trial look wonderful by having a person quietly wipe every part afterwards. Not wonderful when that person went back to their own work

Pavel, did the wiping remove residue consistently, or was the operator selecting which parts looked acceptable? Those would leave Jordan with different questions.

Residue came off, but I never saw a proper consistency check. So no, I wouldn't borrow our result as a reason to add wiping here

Ravi, any required cleaning will be timed. Inspection has now specified the sample comparison, but nobody has checked the proposed softer pads for holding and release yet.

Thank you. That leaves a fair comparison possible without assuming the extra work is free.

Are the softer pads actually a defined material and shape yet, Jordan, or is that still just the seller's suggestion?
