Would an inspection sheet without serial numbers put you off?

I'm looking at a refurbished FR5 for moving plastic housings between a fixture and trays. The seller sent a clean inspection sheet, but it doesn't identify the arm or controller. Is asking for a matched report reasonable before I book collection?

Very reasonable. A clean sheet is easy to photograph; connecting it to the machine you're buying is the useful part. Can they supply the report with both identification labels visible?

They sent label photographs but haven't linked them to the report. Thanks for spelling out the distinction. I'd almost treated the photos as the missing proof

The photos help identify what's offered. They don't tell you what was inspected. Has anyone described the tests behind the tick marked 'functional'?

We bought a used lab arm with a demo video that turned out to be from before a controller swap. Not fraud in our case, just hopeless records. Ask for a demonstration of the actual offered combination, not the seller's greatest hits.

That controller swap point is useful. I'd also want the included software, cables and available backups listed, because a moving arm without a usable handover can become a very stationary purchase.

Price the missing support before collection. We could obtain parts for an inherited unit, but nobody locally would diagnose it. A cheap purchase can still leave your production waiting while you arrange help.

I've now been offered a live video viewing, but still no test details. I'm not paying for transport yet. Would you use the viewing to choose what an independent inspection should cover?

Yes, use it to collect questions for the inspector. A video cannot establish condition fully. Show the inspector the offered equipment list as well, so their visit addresses the package you would receive.

Did they ever identify who performed that original inspection? That would help you decide whether the missing detail is recoverable or whether you're starting the condition assessment from scratch.
