This housing sits flat until the FR5 fingers close

I checked seating before blaming another pickup point. On this housing job the part is flat in its pocket, then twists as the fingers close. Our spacer issue started at the fixture; this looks different. What should maintenance compare first?

The two contacts against the intended tool drawing, including what's behind the pads, before anyone orders a new gripper

We have the current drawing and a saved job copy. One pad has a shiny corner, but I can't tell whether that is wear or just where it's touching.

A shiny patch is a clue, not a parts order. Have maintenance compare pad condition and mounting with the specified assembly, and use an identified housing. Otherwise a slightly different moulding can join the argument unnoticed.

Identified housing retained. Maintenance found a washer behind one pad which the drawing doesn't show. Nobody here can explain when it went in.

Ask the tooling owner whether it belongs there; unexplained doesn't automatically mean wrong, though it certainly needs an answer

And whatever the answer is, put it where the next person replacing a pad will find it. A modification known only to the person who fitted it is an excellent way to buy the same investigation twice.

Tooling owner says it was temporary for an earlier housing revision and should not be in this assembly. Maintenance has restored the specified build. The pickup edits are being reviewed before the return check.

Did the return check show the current housing staying square, or have you only completed the rebuild so far?

Rebuild only. Trial is still waiting on the reviewed job. I've labelled the removed washer with the old revision so it doesn't get helpfully put back.
