I copied our read-only FR5 identity script to the rebuilt workshop laptop and it now rejects an argument before connecting, so should I compare the SDK copies before asking the seller about the controller?

Yes, start there. Have whoever maintains the script record the interpreter, imported module path and installed version on both laptops, then compare the failing call with that copy's documentation. Several folders named SDK can hide quite different contents.

The maintainer found that the new shortcut imports a different SDK folder from the working laptop, and is checking the call against its documentation before deciding which installation we should keep.
