I can see different exposed lengths in the hand-loaded brass sleeves for our planned UR5e lathe job. The sheet doesn't identify which blank produced each reading. What can we recover before measuring another set?
Recover identities only where you've got a real link. I've seen a tray order reconstructed from somebody's memory and then treated as measurement evidence. Mark the unmatched readings as unmatched, and start the next comparison with each blank identified.
Two photographs show readable labels beside the readings. The rest are just a list. Those two blanks are still available, but overall lengths were never entered.
We had that list once, and everybody remembered the order differently; I'd keep the two traceable examples and stop asking the other readings to tell you which blank was long
Nora, yes. Amara, have the setter and quality agree overall length, relevant end condition, seating reference and exposed-length method for the identified blanks. Then repeat seating can be compared on the same blank rather than mixing blank variation into it.
Setter and quality checked the two retained blanks. One had material left on its seating end and did not sit as intended. They've kept the before check and marked the old unlinked readings unusable for this comparison. New identified set next.
Useful finding. Include ordinary conforming blanks in that set as well as the troublesome example. Otherwise you'll learn plenty about this one end defect and very little about normal seating variation.
