our fr5 handover has no answer after the break-cover change

The regular operator can sort out our polymer-block tray job. Break cover calls me at the first empty pocket. We gave both people the same clean-run demonstration. Clearly they did not get the same usable handover. I want to find the missing decisions before adding another page of screenshots.

What does the regular operator do that the covering operator cannot find in the instructions? Ask them to describe the empty-pocket case separately. They may have learned different things outside your demonstration.

Regular operator has a handwritten note from the original programmer. Break cover has never seen it. It names a known-empty case and a different uncertain-location case.

Is that note current, though?

Not entirely. One screen name changed. The job author has confirmed the two decisions but needs to replace the old wording. I am not photocopying it as instructions.

Our old note lived in someone's locker. Good instructions need to survive a day off.

Sara's point also applies to the contact route. Who takes the uncertain-location case if the regular operator and you are both away? The covering person should not have to discover that by calling numbers at random.

And that person needs to know they own it.

The shift lead owns the review. Deputy had not been included. Both are now involved in checking the replacement instructions with the author.

Did break cover get to try reading the draft?

Yes. They found the empty-pocket decision without a prompt. They then asked where the uncertain part stays during review. Our draft only named the person to call. That physical arrangement still needs agreeing.

Leave that question explicit until it is answered. The reader has found a real missing instruction, not failed to understand the rest. A complete contact list cannot tell them what to do with an uncertain part.
