I have two tooling offers based on our motor housing's mass, while the extended fingers, adapter and hose fittings apparently weigh nothing in either calculation. We need to place the housing into an inspection nest. What should I ask each supplier to define before our integrator can compare the actual assemblies?
We had a handling comparison where the sample was identified but the adapter was not. Ask for the complete assembly, component masses and centres of mass, held-part position and proposed handling conditions. Your integrator needs the applicable load assessment for that arrangement, not just a part weight detached from the tooling.
One supplier returned that complete list and the held-housing view. The other repeated the gripper's catalogue capacity and did not include the fingers. I have returned that offer as incomplete.
Our maintenance handover once identified the gripper but not its contact pieces. Include the exact finger and fitting references in the eventual spare list, so a later replacement does not quietly change the assessed assembly.
And compare access through placement and release into your actual nest, Hana. The load information can be adequate while the tool still cannot leave the housing where you need it.
