Turned cartons over the finger gap

I have stopped our UR5e pallet drawing at the turned row. The labelled cartons need support along particular edges, and those edges sit over the gaps left for the fingers. I can see why tooling wants the gap. I cannot see how packaging is meant to accept it.

Bring the filled-carton section and complete finger withdrawal into one review. The top view makes that disagreement look much smaller than it is.

Is the turned row there for pallet count or for the outward-facing labels?

And what happens on an order that stops halfway through that row?

Both, Gabriel. It adds cartons and presents the labels outward. Ravi, the short-order drawing is missing altogether; dispatch currently deals with those by hand.

Count that dispatch work before protecting the maximum layer count; our straight-row comparison looked worse until the extra handling on the fancy pattern was included.

Could you move the label instead? Only if packaging accepts the change. It might preserve support without turning the box.

A label change is an option to ask about, not free work. Include its printing, application and verification in the comparison if the customer permits it.

Theo is right about the work. I would still ask now; a rejected label option costs very little to discover before anyone designs different fingers.

Packaging has rejected the turned row over those gaps. Dispatch says the label face cannot change for this product. They are willing to compare a lower-count straight arrangement.

Can that straight arrangement leave the required label visible?

Yes, with fewer cartons across the row. It uses more pallets for our larger orders, which is why dispatch wants the full-order comparison.

More pallets means more changes too; is anyone measuring that job rather than just multiplying a unit pallet price?

Include where incomplete pallets wait and how they return. A full-order comparison can still miss the awkward short order that consumes the operator's attention.

That's the missing drawing I meant. Half-finished work still occupies space.

On the tool side, ask for the straight pattern's placement sequence through withdrawal. The new top view alone won't tell you whether the fingers can leave the last carton.

Joint review cleared support and the modelled tool sequence for the straight candidate. The partial-order exercise found our waiting pallet blocks the return route, so dispatch is changing that arrangement.

Do they have another defined waiting space, or only an instruction to keep the route clear?

Another marked space is available. The packer walked the proposed transfer and return with the supervisor; the revised handling time is now in the comparison.

Did that leave enough saving to keep the candidate?

Enough for a limited trial, not the original estimate. We chose the straight candidate for that trial and dropped the turned row. Thank you, Gabriel; pallet changes were the largest missing labour item.
