FR10 pouch transfer with a growing unpaid preparation job

The FR10 moves our refill pouch nicely once I've presented it nicely. Each packaging change adds another guide adjustment and another explanation. I suspect the actual automation is me.

Who prepares it when you are away? Count that work and the changeover before comparing the transfer with manual packing.

The packing lead waits for me. No cover for the new shapes.

Then the supported process is narrower than the demonstration. Which pouch types have actually been repeated by somebody other than you?

One stable refill format. The rest needed me to rearrange presentation. I haven't measured the whole packing job by format yet.

That one format might still be worth keeping, but I'd give it an ordinary order with all the preparation and clearing included. Not another tidy transfer clip. And don't make a fresh guide just to give the proposed trial something nicer to look at.

How often does that stable format run, and is its volume enough to carry the shared setup and support work? A useful subset can still be too small.

Carla, include the covering person in it. Michael being nearby to rescue the awkward bits would hide the problem he started with.

Jonas, yes, within the agreed supported trial. An unsupported operator should not be left to invent adjustments for the sake of a realistic comparison.

Bounded trial agreed for the stable format, with existing tooling and the trained covering packer. Other formats remain manual. Planner is recording setup, presentation, transfer and clearing separately.

Good. Let the packer describe the awkward bits in their own words too. Sometimes an adjustment takes little time but demands attention right when another job needs them.

Whole-order comparison is back. Stable format transferred reliably, but setup and clearing ate the saving on our usual order. Its larger orders are too infrequent to carry the support cost.

That gives you a decision for your order mix. Has the planner included the likely packaging changes, or treated that one format as permanently stable?

Packaging has another change planned for that format. We have stopped this transfer proposal instead of commissioning another guide. Manual packing remains the priced route.

Told the packers. Considerably less dramatic than telling myself. Thanks, Carla, the whole-order comparison settled it.

And maintenance has one less undocumented presentation job to inherit.
