It doesn't answer either question yet; can the toolmaker key the insert orientation and provide a way to identify the fitted family for comparison with the selected recipe?
7 pointsToolmaker has proposed asymmetric location so the insert cannot seat backwards. The family check is still just a label, which does not establish what the controller knows about the installed tooling.
