our reject photo has a streak the cover hasn't got

I've got the same polished cover labelled good on the bench and scratched in our proposed FR5 camera view. Turn it slightly and the bright line walks across the image. Quality can find a small real scratch elsewhere, which barely shows. We're choosing the presentation now, so teaching the camera these labels seems a bit premature.

Who labelled the images, and did they have the actual covers beside them?

Our project engineer labelled screenshots. Quality inspected the covers separately. I've matched the serial labels now and the screenshot rejects include two covers quality accepted, not just the one I started with.

Ask quality to mark the real defect locations on a separate reference image. Otherwise the next handover inherits a folder of confident guesses.

We had a trainer pointing at a reflection on every example while the actual blemish sat under the caption, so show the reference without writing over the useful bit

Yes, separate annotated copies. I want the original images left alone; someone has already cropped one so closely I can't tell which way the cover was held.

That crop would drive me mad. Can your vision person compare a few lighting and presentation options with the same accepted and rejected covers? Including the little real scratch, not just the dramatic streak.

Priya, who will maintain that sample set after the project engineer leaves? Covers disappear into useful-looking drawers remarkably quickly.

Quality has taken the set and added handling notes. Fiona, the comparison found a view where the small scratch is visible without that travelling line, but we still need to check it across the other finishes. At least we're arguing over the right marks now.
