One cover, three scratch labels

I'm checking reference covers for our FR5 camera plan. Three images of one cover have different scratches labelled. Reseating moved the highlights. Need a physical judgement and a repeatable image setup before these files become the acceptance set.

Can you identify the physical cover and have it examined against the appearance requirement? I would do that before asking the supplier to modify imaging equipment around the current labels.

Cover identified. Two inspectors disagree about a faint scuff near the edge. Neither sees physical scratches at the three labelled streaks. Scuff remains undecided.

Get them looking under the same agreed conditions. We can make a cover look dreadful by holding it almost edge-on under a lamp, then perfectly innocent beside the window. Doesn't mean either person was trying to be difficult.

And keep that undecided cover out of the good folder until it's settled. Someone will use it for training if it's conveniently sitting there. The filename won't carry your whole conversation.

Who owns the appearance decision when the inspectors disagree? Shared viewing conditions help the comparison, but someone still needs to apply the actual requirement to that scuff.

Don't clean the scuff away before that review. You'd be changing the disputed sample.

Quality lead owns it. Cover stored as-is. Thanks, Anika; someone had suggested polishing it to see whether it was serious.

Scuff accepted under the agreed viewing check. We recorded its position anyway. The three long streak labels are withdrawn. Next image comparison will include this cover and a known reject.

Useful to keep the scuff position. When the lighting changes again, people can compare the same feature instead of finding a new shiny patch and starting from scratch (bad choice of words, sorry).

Does the fixture seat it consistently now, Jasper? Sorting the label is good, but your opening said reseating changed the highlights. I'd still want that bit explained before the threshold work.

Not established yet. Fixture designer is checking the supports against several covers. Reference decisions are recorded, imaging and threshold settings still open.
