I've put a lot into our FR10 bag-to-carton trial. It places a presented hardware bag nicely. The trouble is getting that bag presented, especially when the kit inside changes and the bag hangs a different way.
I keep making another guide. The packing team keeps waiting for me to finish it. Last time I was pleased that setup took less time than the previous attempt, then noticed the manual team had already packed the order beside us. Not a comparison I enjoyed.
How would you decide whether to keep working on this or stop adding variants? I don't trust my own enthusiasm much at the moment.
Count the complete order, including your guides, setup and clearing away. Ask the packing team to help. They are already doing the comparison while you are watching the transfer.
They were remarkably ready with examples when I asked. I had counted guide making as development even for products we'd handled before. Thanks, I needed that pointed out.
Put a limit on further staff hours before that trial. Otherwise a small remaining question can quietly acquire another set of guides and the same support problem.
Yes. We stop that trial too. Mixed orders are manual now; the one repeat order gets a capped test with the operator doing setup. I feel better having a decision we can actually reach.
