Planning for 89, judging from mismatched demos (Universal Robots UR5e)

I'm comparing Universal Robots UR5e with other candidates: tray-to-fixture loading with a rigid plastic cap in a compact parts handling area, with 89 planned. One demo used a tidy tray; another used our awkward workshop tray. Both looked promising. I don't think the videos answer the same question.

Got separate notes for misses and tray nudges? That could show how much preparation is propping up the transfer results.

The notes are scrappy, but they distinguish the tray adjustments that aren't obvious in the footage. They also show most missed pickups occurring after tray replacement across the candidates.

A shared tray trial sounds useful, with ordinary tray replacement included. Set acceptable placement and operator involvement in advance, and log both against each candidate.

@ElliotAllen0335 On our own transfer job, the uninterrupted run hid a fiddly locating step. Asking a second operator to replace the tray made that painfully obvious.

@DavidBrown0954 Robot cost or fixture cost? Our meeting keeps getting stuck there.

In my own comparison, we included the cost in the complete package and identified its source as fixture work. How we categorised it didn't change the need to fund it.

Keeping the same gripper would make the comparison fair too. That removes another variable while you sort out the tray issue.
